The College of Fire

The Imperial Colleges of Magic were founded by the Empire, with a bit of help from the High Elves, to train up new wizards. They stand for fastidiousness in study and commitment to one of the Eight Winds of magic. But only one of them will set their own heads on fire.

Merry and Bright

The Bright Order (yet another name for the College of Fire) dedicates itself to the study Aqshian magic.

This is the control and application of fire. It's probably the most familiar brand of wizard, even for those of us without a degree in Old World Lore, because of their flashy colors and the fact that they are often literally on fire.

Their passion can sometimes manifest bodily as sparks or small flames. Even in calm times, their often red hair blazes with the mere suggestion of pyroclasm, or they ornament themselves with lit braziers. More notably, Sienna Fuegonasus from the popular Vermintide game, makes a red battle mage hard to miss for anyone who's looking.

In the days before Dungeon Bowl, the hyper-competitive colleges often settled their differences with open combat. It's no wonder, then, that a relatively more peaceful blood sport would be a kinder way to vie for superiority when there is at least one college with the power to send a tsunami of flame in your general direction. And while a college of magic is more a collection of ideas or principals, and less a campus location, their great tower in Altdorf projects that power.

The best-known team working for the College of Fire are the Blazing Axes, having secured the Dungeon Bowl Championship for their school numerous times. In the dungeon, their approach is much like you would expect: explosive. With a roster of sturdy dwarfs (those Chaotic or otherwise), massive Ogres, Khornate berserkers and...gnoblars...this sort of team favors a friendly beatdown over nuanced ball-play.

Most importantly, perhaps, are the Bright Wizards on loan to most teams. Not much in the Old World can sway a game like a fireball igniting the opposition.

So how are you constructing your fire teams this season?
